K-pop boy band Seventeen achieved a new personal record by selling more than 1 million copies of their new album “Heng:garae,” a Korean word which means to toss someone up and down to celebrate.

According to Hanteo Chart, “Heng:garae” was released on June 22 and during its first week until June 28, the album sold a total of 1,097,891, or 397,028 copies more than their third studio album “An Ode,” which garnered 700,863 copies in sales in the first week of release in September 2019.

The new album sold 462,003 copies on the first day followed by 123,319 copies on June 23; 83,115 on June 24; 226,793 on June 25; 132,543 on June 26; 37,560 on June 27; and 32,558 on June 28. With the feat, Seventeen placed second among best-selling Korean artists in 2020 to date and topped Hanteo’s weekly chart covering June 22-28.

“Heng:garae,” which features the carrier track  “Left & Right,” is Seventeen’s first album under Big Hit Entertainment, which bought their agency Pledis Entertainment in May. With the deal, Pledis became a label under Big Hit. This marked Seventeen’s comeback in nine months.

The music video for “Left & Right” has garnered 30.43 million views as of 9:15AM on June 29 since its upload on June 22 on YouTube.

During their press conference for the album held on June 22, Seventeen’s leader S.Coups said that “every song has its own meaning and the album includes only good songs. Seventeen hopes that through our new album, a lot of young people will feel comforted and encouraged,” Osen reported.

“Because I wanted to express ‘youth’ vibes clearly, during the album production, I talked with the members about our daily life. Each of us talked about how we thought in life,” said Woozi about making the album.

Seventeen said that “through this album, we want to become hope and encouragement for everyone. One of the main goals is to get the whole world to join the ‘Left & Right’ dance.”
